The biggest music festival on the planet made its debut on Indian soil at Mahalaxmi Race Course, Mumbai on January 28 and 29, 2023. Lollapalooza India, with its international fame, elaborate setup, and a varied line-up of 40 artists performing across 4 stages, had the whole of Mumbai and beyond looking its way over the weekend. It was everything the youth of the country had not only been awaiting with bated breath but also needed after being cooped up for two years of the pandemic.
Lollapalooza has a history of serving music, culture and wider entertainment for over three decades across the Americas, Europe, and now, India. Founded by Jane’s Addiction member Perry Farrell, Lolla’s rich legacy only continues to expand by providing a stage to not only the biggest names in the music scene but also indie and alternative artists. By inviting to India established stars of pop and rock like Japanese Breakfast, AP Dhillon, Diplo, Prateek Kuhaad and Got7's Jackson Wang, riding high on the K-pop wave, who generated not only an awesome turn-out but also an exponentially greater online buzz around the festival, Lolla was surely what was on everyone’s mind.
Lolla India was presented jointly by Budweiser, Johnnie Walker and Nexa. Johnnie Walker is a globally renowned brand, best known as the largest distributor of blended Scotch whisky in the world. Johnnie Walker made sure to live up to its reputation and fulfilled its responsibility as the co-presenter by serving the festival-goers an incredible photogenic scene to capture their experience and enhance it.
The brand sought GoKapture to collaborate in curating a modified, AR-based 360 experience for its visitors and snagged for itself another first at Lolla India with its unique setup. For Jonny Walker, we altered our original 360 degree spin booth, which has a platform measuring to about 3 ft., to be extended to provide almost three times the space. The resulting 360 video booth platform was spacious and sturdy enough to not only accommodate 5-6 people at once to be captured by the camera, but also the brand's life-size statue and logo. The latter functioned as a backdrop, and accordingly, the booth was also modified for its camera arm to do only half of its rotation, i.e.180 degrees so that the branding details would show neatly to frame each video. Additionally, with the help of augmented reality, moving graphics were added in the foreground of each video to mimic filters. This modified 360 video booth rental put up a show like no other and aided to amplify not only Johnny Walker's brand appeal but also the big picture- Lollapalooza's commitment to continuing to provide the best musical experience, laden with excitement and some much needed glitz and glam.
The transformation of our beloved 360 spin booth in Mumbai that we undertook for Lollapalooza bears testament to GoKapture's promise to offer you more than simply a product rental package.
